The Gift Man ("we", "us") makes custom gifts. This page explains what information we collect when you use our website, why we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to follow applicable Indian law on personal data, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and phone number (we ask for these when you create an account), and, if you add them, your addresses and special dates (like birthdays).
- Your requests: the brief you send us, messages in the chat, photos you upload, and the orders, quotes and payment records that follow.
- Saved gifts and drafts: gifts you heart and unfinished briefs. Guests keep these in their own browser. Signed-in customers keep them in their account.
- Newsletter: your email address, only if you sign up.
- Technical information: basic details such as your browser and device, which our hosting and security tools handle automatically.
We do not collect or store your card details, bank details or UPI PIN. UPI payments are made inside your own UPI app.
Why we use it
- To read your brief, talk with you (in the chat, and by phone or WhatsApp if we need to), and make and deliver your gift.
- To keep your account secure and show you your own orders and messages.
- To send order updates. If you joined the newsletter, to send you news and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To keep our business records and to improve the website.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who handles it for us
We use trusted services to run the website. They handle data on our behalf:
- Google Firebase for sign-in and our database.
- Cloudinary to store and show photos.
- Telegram, Resend (email) and your browser's push service to send us, and you, alerts about your orders.
- Vercel to host the website.
- Courier or delivery partners receive the name, phone number and address needed to deliver your gift.
Photos and your gift
Photos you send are used to make your gift and to talk with you about it. We may delete reference photos after your order is delivered. If we show a finished gift in our gallery, we show the gift itself and never your private messages. You can ask us not to show yours (see our Terms).
Cookies and similar technology
We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in and to remember saved gifts and drafts. We do not use advertising trackers at this time.
How long we keep information
We keep account and order records while your account is active, and for as long as the law or our accounting needs require. You can ask us to delete your account and information.
Your choices
You can ask us to show, correct or delete your information, or to stop sending you newsletters. You can message us in the chat on this website.
Children
Our website is meant for adults. If you are under 18, please use it together with a parent or guardian.
Changes
We may update this page. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
